Valianos central square

Description

It is the central square of Argostoli,

Vallianos Square is the central square of Argostoli, full of trees and palm trees, and is a meeting point for locals and visitors.

It was named after Panagios Vallianos, one of the most important benefactors of Greece, who from humble origins managed to create a large commercial empire in London and finance projects such as the National Library.

His statue dominates the square, a work of sculptor Georgios Bonanos, and is one of the main landmarks of the city.
