De boset Bridge

Description

De Bosset Bridge is one of Argostoli’s most iconic and historic landmarks, known as the longest stone bridge over the sea in Europe. It was built in 1813 by Swiss engineer Charles Philippe De Bosset during the British rule.

The bridge crosses the Koutavos lagoon, connecting Argostoli with the opposite side, offering a unique scenic route over calm waters and natural surroundings. At its center stands the distinctive obelisk (“column”), an important historical reference point.

Today, it is perfect for a walk or a relaxed ride, especially during sunset when the light reflects beautifully on the lagoon.
